Pearson went on to dominate for the Wood Brothers at MIS, winning eight times in a span of 13 races in which he never finished worse than fifth. Wood said a tire change had Jarrett running better than he did the whole race, so he decided to stick with those tires over the final laps of the race.
He came by like he was going to run by us and he ran really hard in the corner trying to catch Dale and he slid out before he got to Dale. It came down to the last lap. Dale was down inside coming off of Turn 2 and of course they battled back and forth. Dale pulled ahead a foot at the start-finish line. So that was very special.
