For most types of butterfly bushes, they grow best in full sun but some varieties can tolerate partial shade.
You can grow butterfly bushes in dappled shade or morning sun and afternoon shade, but avoid deep shade areas. Full sun means the area gets at least six hours of direct sun a day. Part shade to part sun is anywhere between two and six hours of direct sun each day, while less than two hours of sun per day is considered full shade. The fast-growing butterfly bush reaches a mature height of 6 to 10 feet tall in one or two growing seasons.
The cone or wand-shaped flower heads grow 5 to 12 inches long and bloom from summer through fall. The flowers bloom on arching branches. Butterfly bushes form a loose, multi-stem shrub well suited for border areas, informal hedges, cottage gardens and butterfly gardens.
Any info. On where I can get it? Would appreciate any feedback. I live in zone 9 -fl. Will they grow here and if so what am I doing wrong? I even called my exchange to help and they still died.
Help please would love them in my garden. I will try using the cuttings in the spring to see if I can grow more plants. They have been so easy for me to grow. The first year my neighbor cut them all away to the ground without my knowledge.
He thought it was a weed. So, he really did me a favor without knowing what he was doing… LOL. As for my orchids, they are continuing to flower three to four times a year. I keep them in the East window but it is covered with the porch. So it is not in direct light for vary long. I wouldn't be surprised if it puts on a fair amount of growth this year and hits at least 4 or 5 feet next year.
Mine was purchased in a pot of less than a gallon and it achieved its full size in 3 years. I'd suggest planting annuals nearby so you don't have to move things so soon. Since I love the way the bush looks I am considering looking around at local nursery's for a gallon plant to use for the front yard so that it fills in quicker and use my small plant in the backyard since I will be the only one witnessing its growth back there and enjoy that.
I appreciate everyone's input! They are super-easy to grow from seed via winter sowing. I grew lots of them in and planted at least one in every bed in my garden. They all grew to full size and bloomed the second year. Indem Sie weiterhin auf der Website surfen bzw.
